Celebrate Diwali in Canada

Finally, it is that time of the year when we welcome the biggest Indian festival – ‘Diwali’. One of the most significant festivals in India, Diwali is rightly called as the ‘Festival of Lights’. It’s a two-day celebration that includes fireworks, candles, lights, special earthen pot lamps, sweets, festivities and much more!

The festival celebrates the victory of light over darkness. Celebrated by Indians across the world, Diwali is the biggest, brightest, and most popular and awaited festival in the Indian calendar.

People spend this day with their family and friends by lighting diyas, laying out colorful designs by coloured powder called rangolis, setting up fireworks, exchanging gifts or sweets and celebrating with dance, and music.

Indians in Canada also celebrate this festival with full passion and devotion. The temples in Canada are also decorated and are open to all for the prayers.
