A Bachelor of Arts Degree focuses on social science, humanities, liberal arts, and culture. With an arts degree in hand, students can choose from a variety of professions, such as advertising, marketing, public relations, theatre, education, recreation, writing and many others. 

Here are a few professions that you may consider after getting an arts degree.

Administrative Assistant

Administrative assistants perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. Their responsibilities include providing support to our managers and employees, assisting in daily office needs and managing other activities of the company like filing and organization.

Skill required: Students who want to pursue this profession must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to organize their work using tools, like MS Office.

According to WorkBC, Administrative Assistants may earn up to $50,054 CAD  annually.

Early Childhood Education

The demand for early childhood education is always on a rise. The ECE Programs helps students learn the skills required for shaping and nurturing the young minds of the future. They also teach competencies and knowledge required to work with children under the age of five in licensed preschools and childcare centres.

Skill required: Students must be patient, creative, must understand the needs of children, must be able to communicate well with the students. Understanding of child psychology is also very crucial for students considering this profession. 

According to WorkBC, Early childhood educators and assistants may earn up to $ 39,501 CAD annually.  

Public Relations

Public relation managers have the responsibility to create and maintain a positive public image of the company, individual or the organisation they work for, in front of public. They draft media releases and develop social media programs to help maintain reputation.

  • Social media management experience

Advertising

With the growing of businesses, the demand for advertising is always on a rise. There is hardly any company or brand which does not do advertising. Advertising is the art of public communication that promotes a product, service, brand or event or even an individual. It may be paid or organic. Every big company has a separate advertising department which takes care of all the issues related to it.

Event Management

An arts Degree can also lead to a career in event management. Event Managers are responsible for planning, promoting, and ensuring the smooth running of an event schedule and individual events. They often work hands in hands with the marketing team.

Columbia College

The General Associate of Arts Degree at Columbia College, provides students with a strong foundation in the general arts or career associated in a related field. The curriculum includes Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines including anthropology, communication, criminology, economics, geography, political science, psychology, and sociology.

Program Duration: 2 years*

IELTS Requirement: IELTS or International English Language Testing System: Students need to achieve a minimum of 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing

LaSalle College, Vancouver is one of the best schools in British Columbia, Canada offering applied arts programs that help graduates build rewarding, lifelong careers. 

Program Duration: 2 Years

The College offers an Associate of Arts Degree 60-credit degree that the students can complete in just 12 months. Earning this credential can lead to the pathway to a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in several areas, including Communication Studies, Arts and Humanities, as well as Behavioural and Social Sciences. 

Admission Requirements

IELTS/ International English Language Testing System (Academic) score should be 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in writing

Coquitlam College

The College offers an Associate of Arts Degree that requires students to complete a minimum of 60 credits of University Transferable courses. This includes six credits in English, nine credits in science, and thirty-six credits in Arts, with eighteen credits from second-year courses. This allows the students an opportunity to transfer into the 3rd year of a bachelor’s degree at leading Canadian and US universities.

Program Duration: 2 Years 

For international students, the following English Language Requirements must be fulfilled:

  • IELTS minimum score of 6.5 with 6.0 on the writing component
