About the Master of Energy Management program

Program description

The Master of Energy Management (MEM) program at New York Tech Vancouver is a graduate-level degree program that focuses on addressing urgent global challenges related to energy. The program covers various topics such as energy policy and regulation, renewable technologies, conservation, and sustainability. What makes this program unique is that it is specifically designed to align with the energy policies of British Columbia. This allows students to gain a local perspective while also developing a wider perception of national and international energy-related issues.

Courses and credits

The MEM program comprises 30 credits, divided into two categories: (1) seven compulsory fundamental courses, and (2) three elective courses that emphasize practical applications. Each course carries three credit hours. Moreover, international students are obligated to finish a 0-credit Graduate Communications course, which brings the total credits to 30.

Note that students can choose elective courses from both MEM and MBA offerings to tailor their studies.

Admission requirements

In order to be eligible for the program, applicants must have either completed or be able to demonstrate the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited 4-year college or 4-year university
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • A minimum GRE score of 295, if required

Discretionary admission

Applicants with a GPA between 2.85 and 2.99 may be admitted at the discretion of the dean based on individual circumstances.

  • Official GRE test score submission requires a minimum score of 295 and a minimum percentile rank of 75% in quantitative reasoning.
  • To be eligible, you must have completed a Master’s degree that is relevant to the position you are applying for, and your GPA should be at least 3.0.
  • A minimum of three years of prior work experience in a related field
  • An applicant’s potential to contribute to the diversity of the student body at New York Tech Vancouver
