What you’ll learn

Students will undergo instruction in statistical analysis, data visualization, database administration, machine learning, and the application of social network analytics across key business domains including marketing, finance, supply chain management, and human resources.

Students will learn how to use and develop proficiency in the following tools: 

  • Python
  • SQL 
  • Tableau

Courses

Examples of core courses in this program include:

  • Accounting — 1.5 credits
  • Principles of Economics — 1.5 credits
  • Finance — 1.5 credits
  • Management Information Systems — 1.5 credits
  • Business Statistics — 1.5 credits
  • Production and Operations Management — 1.5 credits

Career opportunities

MBA programs are frequently advised for mid-career professionals because they have the potential to accelerate career progression and ease transitions into different roles or sectors. These individuals typically boast years of work experience, and opting for an MBA often opens doors to expanding their professional connections, engaging with industry experts, and exploring fresh career pathways previously beyond their reach.

As such, potential career transitions for MBA graduates often translate into roles or fields, such as:  

  • Management consultant/analyst
  • Business operations manager
  • Entrepreneur and/or startup founder
  • Managing director
  • Product manager
  • IB (Investment Banking) or PE (Private Equity) associate/VP/Director, etc.

Admission requirements

To be considered for the program, applicants must have completed and/or demonstrate the following: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited 4-year college or 4-year university
  • A minimum cGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
    • Candidates who hold an overall GPA falling within the range of 2.75 to 2.99 may qualify for application consideration provided they possess at least 2 years of documented work experience, supported by an employment verification letter from their employer. Such cases are evaluated individually, and eligibility criteria may vary for each applicant.

English language requirements

Mastery of the English language is a prerequisite for all NYIT applicants. To demonstrate proficiency, students must furnish evidence of English Language Proficiency via one of the following methods:

  • IELTS Academic: Overall band score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in Speaking and Writing
    • Note that the IELTS Indicator will not be accepted
  • TOEFL iBT: Score of 88, with a minimum of 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing.
    • TOEFL iBT home is accepted
  • Pearson Academic (PTE): Overall score of 65, with a minimum score of 60 in both Speaking and Writing
  • Successful completion of the University Pathway Program from one of NYIT’s partner schools (must be completed in-person)

How to apply

Applications for all NYIT Vancouver programs are completed online. 

To submit your application: 

  • Pay a one-time non-refundable application fee of $50 USD
  • Complete the online application form here

You will also need to provide: 

  • Proof of English Language Proficiency (see accepted exams/scores above)
  • Your GMAT score if overall GPA is less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Your Bachelor’s degree completion certificate/diploma
  • A copy of semester-by-semester transcripts for all four years of your Bachelor’s degree study
  • A 1-2 page long resume/curriculum vitae (CV)
  • A Statement of Purpose (recommended)
  • Transcripts or certificates received after receiving your Bachelor’s degree
